Biographical Summaries
The summaries of past World Championships include several paragraphs of written material for each event at each championship. There re biographical summaries on over 400 athletes. Like the Smithsonian, you can get lost in here for days and never want to come out.

The IAAF's statistical department is pretty impressive. They do this for every WC, and they're distributed (in nicely bound paperback books) to credentialed press. The bound book is of a scale not unlike the FAST or ATFS annuals (and yeah, it's time to admit the FAST Annual is becoming more the USATF Media Guide than any kind of statistical guide, for the few who still use the dead-tree edition instead of using the web.)
These being online suggests the possibility that they're going to distribute PDFs this year rather than books, a move I'd welcome...
