From the Track & Field News Message Board:
I have learned through a trusted source that the University of Cincinnati has decided to eliminate scholarship funding to men's track & field starting next year. Current athletes will have their scholarships honored to graduation, and two scholarships already committed to recruits will also be honored.
After that it's almost certainly a slow death march...The athletic director, Mike Thomas, did not inform the team and coaches himself - he sent an assistant. Nice.
Cincy can't even claim poverty. Their football team went to the Orange Bowl this year, and since the Big East doesn't split payouts evenly, the Bearcats took home over $5 million from that game.
